Otero County marriage records are available to eligible persons related to the spouse or an attorney to whom the married individuals have given authority. These records include marriage licenses, marriage verification letters, and marriage certificates. The county clerk's office is the primary custodian of Otero County marriage records. Individuals can request marriage records in person, online, or through the phone from the office of the Otero County court clerk. To request a person, individuals need to provide a picture ID at the office to prove thier identity and eligibility. Otero County Probate Court Records

Probate is the legal procedure through which a deceased individual's assets (referred to as the decedent) are transferred. If the deceased leaves no will, the property is distributed in accordance with the intestate succession laws of New Mexico. Otherwise, the decedent's Will governs the transfer of property.

The Otero County Probate Court decides informal probate issues and gives the public access to court-filed records and general information about the probate procedure.
